An item I want very badly is ending tomorrow at noon EST tomorrow (Saturday). What would a safe lead time be? Also, not to take away business from AS, but are there any other cheap, reliable sniper programs that I could use? I wouldn't mind paying the double fees, but would this work? I could set AS to whatever safe lead time you guys tell me and the other to about 4 seconds...just to make sure.

Another question. I want to set up the AS sniper and also wait by the computer with a slightly higher bid ready. I want to do this in case I notice that the snipe doesn't go through. Can AS still place a snipe for me if I'm logged in watching the auction and ready to bid?

Thanks.

Based on the statistics that AS support has posted on this forum, I would guess (complete guess) the chances of failure with a 16-second lead-time are somewhere between 1 out of 10,000 to 1 out of 100,000 (hopefully AS will check my math). So, I would say that was a poor chance of failure.

Don’t let the recent problems spook you. AS periodically turns off their sniping computers so we’ll have more people to talk to on the forum (that’s a poor attempt at humor).
As mentioned elsewhere you'll find it very difficult to react to a bid/snipe in the last minute so the lead time can be set to anything from 5 seconds to 30 seconds and still be risk free.

Think about this. If your snipe arrives at 12 seconds and it was for €15 and another sniper, by chance, sets his/her snipe at €15 and it arrives earlier then you lose. So, a longer lead time can be safer when servers are slow and give a you a better chance of winning when there's a draw!

Me? I use 8 seconds and bid €15.01 - that way I'm always a winner unless someone bids higher than me...

R2 - where's the '€' on my keyboard!
