Hi Warriornun,
I am one of those folks who enjoy perusing the posts, but don't necessarily feel the desire to post back or engage in a survey.
Sometimes the subject matter is not relevant to me or on other occassions, I feel that a post is somewhat redundant, in that if people were interested in stating their opinion, they would simply post a response.
I don't mean to offend anyone by not participating in a poll, but its like getting a survey in the mail.
Most people don't answer those either.

The "Views" number is very deceiving. It's actual the number of times the topic was "viewed", but not the number of unique members that viewed the topic. On each one of those previous polls, you can probably chalk me up for 10 views, because I'm curious about the results. Also, when you create a new topic, or add a post, you get a confirmation screen - well, that counts as a view. If you change it, yep - another view. Also, it appears that the view count updates only when another post is added to the topic, and I think that there's some periodic maintenance program that also updates it.
The forum does keep track of who has voted, as it won't allow someone to vote twice (and you may be asking yourself how I know that ).
Also, polls usually only get a couple of votes. Since this forum seems more lively lately , maybe that's why there's more votes, and maybe, more views.
The Life of View;
Doobee do, doobee do.
As always, you learn something new every day! It is interesting to know how the views work...makes them seem kind of worthless if they do not calculate a logical number...meaning, unique views.
But maybe I'm not thinking about it the right way. There was a time that I could not see the point of a counter (on an auction page) which counted each and every viewing instead of each viewing by a unique user...until a seller pointed out that they would actually be much more interested in 4 people who kept checking it over and over (indicating some mega-serious interest) rather than 78 unique users looking at the page (most discovering that it was nothing they were interested in bidding on.)
And, by the way, by no means am I offended that one would choose not to participate in a poll...rather, I was just confused and didn't understand the motivating factor behind viewing but not voting. :::shrug::: Not a biggie!

I had a little chuckle to see that the 6 ppl that had voted in this particular poll all Voted "Yes...I did vote you Moron"
I must confess to be a closet pollaholic...if theres a poll I am sure to be found voting. Even if the content has nothing to do with me whatsoever. Guess that could be a bad thing huh

You have to be a registered user to vote in a pole.
Many people viewing are not registered users since they have never posted to the forums they've had no need to register, and I dont think voting in a pole is enough of an incentive to do so.
