Ok, I just signed up for a snipe account.

The item I want ends at 10:32pm monday night ( tomorrow)

I have my snipe set up for 10 seconds. I would like to make it 5 seconds but Ive read about troubles getting thru. I really want this item.

So....should I leave it at 10 seconds? Make it more like 20 seconds? Or go for broke with 5 seconds.

Again, this auction ends tomorrow, monday night at 10:32pm.

Also, the minimum bid is $25...yet someone has bid $25.23??? How does this work. Why would someone bid that extra 23 cents?
Will snipe know what to do about the 23 cents? is this some kind of tactic?

On very slow periods 5 second lead times should be plenty - That's something AS support said. I would still make it 8, especially since you "really want this item". At that time, unless it's the Hope Diamond, you're not going to experience a manual counter snipe.

Good luck, and tell us what happens. Big Grin

No, that only applies if it's exactly on the quarter, half, and full hour (+/- a couple of seconds). Since it's so late, 5 seconds will be fine. But, because it's very important, and because I'm cautious, I'd go for 8. I'll tell you what - go for 5. You'll be safe. Cool

P.S. 10:32 PM on a Monday is very slow.

You'll be fine. When I first starting using AS, I ALWAYS used 5 seconds. Never had a problem. From other posts on this forum, I've changed mine to 8. Lots of people are very happy with 5.

BUT, ebay does have hiccups at very strange times. A must item, well, it's a must item.

Hope I'm helping and not the other thing.
Let me add my assurances to Rick's. Although I personally use an 8-second snipe, you'll be just fine with 5 seconds at that time of Monday night. I wouldn't recommend any less than 5 seconds, though, at any time. For every second you shave off from there on, you increase the likelihood that eBay will not react in time to register your bid by an estimated 20%.

The first snipe is always the one you sweat the most. Once everything goes down as planned the heeby-jeebies go away. Big Grin

P.S. -- Happy Birthday!

Thanks for the Happy Bday Smile And for all the advice. I just turned 30 today and im a little depressed. lol

Im also a little worried about my snipe now because I just checked ebay and and the bids have gone up to over $2,000...and yet in my snipe account it says its still at $1,000 which was yesterdays bid status. My account status says READY.... what gives?

The auction ends in 15 hours.

is this normal?

When you bring up "My Snipes", the bid amount may not be current. To insure you see the current amount, click on "Update items info". To avoid a delay in bringing up your "My Snipes" page, AS updates this information during off hours on newer auctions. The longer away the closing date is, the less frequent this information is updated. As the auction closing gets closer, AS updates this information more frequently. But if you're going to depend on the high bid amount from "My Snipes", it's best to use "Update items info".

Happy birthday.
