Item was removed from Ebay Database

I am a newbie and was sniping my first item. I would view it via AS and when I would hit the "update" button, my screen would refresh, etc.
However, when I went on Ebay to look at the item, it was gone. AS was apparently ready to snipe an item that was GONE, but the software thought it was still out there? Anybody have an explanation for that. Thanks

eBay sometimes does that for illegal items, items they dont allow forsale on their site, and items where the copyright holder such as record labels, movie studios, etc ask them to remove the item.
