I (account itsckl) have a few items with state "Did not win" (items 1900201536, 984604159). Both I would have won with my snipe amount, however, AS didnt snipe at all.

Also, I have 4 auctions which already ended (1900879235, 1900881220, 1900882830, 1900885160) but have AS status "Ready". For none of them AS did actually place a snipe. For none of them a "conformation" is available. Needless to say, I would have won all of them with my snipe amount.

Is AS' database now completely corrupt?

when I request snipe credit for those items, I get the message "This item # is either not in our database or has already been credited." which certainly both is not correct.

There is absolutely 0 relationship to th problem on Friday. That was a full hard drive, and nothing more, and was fixed late Friday. The database is not corrupt, and I dont know of any other problems.

You cant get credits on snipes with status "ready"

The reason they are probably marked as "ready" is because eBay has been having trouble with the site today as reported in their system announcement board. In particular a part of their site which tells us if you have won or not.

So even though it says "ready" we most likely did place your snipe we just haven't been able to figure out if that snipe won or lost yet.

When the problems are corrected at eBay our system will update your snipe status. And at that point if the snipe wasn't placed or we cant tell if it was or not you'll receive a new status and you can claim snipe credits at that point.

Thank you

Sara, doesnt mean to hurt you or anyone, but I have checked eBays bid history for the items and unless this is not wrong, AS dindt snipe. I'd feel more comfortable if you could lokk into the matter a bit more.

Thanks,

<<<< Sara, I believe that you are wrong. My snipe was not placed today, the auction ended, and my snipe does not show up in their bid list, though my snipe amount was $44 and the winning bid was $16. Your system is not functioning properly. OTher bidders using other sniping systems today seem to be able to win auctions just fine.

Is anybody there????

This seems to be a ghostly thread, as least that is the same as Friday, except AS don't have the excuse that it's Thanksgiving... or is it some other holiday that the rest of us (in the world) don't know about?

Up till this weekend, I have been very happy with AS with no problems... but I guess the adage is correct that you can tell the real quality of a company by how they handle things going wrong... BADLY!!!!! AS, BADLY!!!!!!

Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad
I've received two e-mails for the above items (one timed at 01:14 GMT, and one at 01:47 GMT, 3 hours after auction end Roll Eyes), saying

"Status Summary: Did Not Win
Your snipe could not be placed because of the reason above
Click here to see eBay's response to your snipe "

When I 'click here', I get

"Confirmation for this item is not available."

Sara,

it took AS several hours to keep up with its (or eBays) hickup. Now all the strange "Ready" or "Did not win" bids, went to normale states and I got credits.

However, it was surely not eBay that was not responding. I know this for sure cause after I noticed that AS failed sniping, I was able to snipe manually on one auction - only 4 seconds before the end of the auction. So eBay did respond.

You may want to document the "Did not win" state and you may add an extra state "Currently Bidding" or something like that. This way, people like me would be less confused.

It is a pretty nice tool anyway, this is why so many people gripe. Would it be a useless tool, noone would care.... Wink

Impossible for you to know because your computer connects to just one of many eBay computers that handle incoming requests.

When they go down it is mostly just a few computers, in one of their clusters, only certain categories or features such as MyEbay.

We monitor bandwidth going out to eBay and can tell when they are spritzing or not. Often we dont even know the exact thing on their site that
isn't working as it may only be down for a few minutes. If it's down long enough it shows up on the eBay system announcement boards. But usually only things longer than 15 minutes, and of importance to enough users show up there.
I must say I find the replies given by AS staff less than enlightening.

We are supposed to believe that this is all eBay's fault?

I suppose it's their fault that you tried to snipe 3 hours after the end of the auction, that there's no information available on your site about what happened to those auctions, that you pay scant regard to the views of customers on this forum, and that you are not responding to support requests.

I've ditched all my other US-based auction-hangers-on due to non-service, in general or for non-US customers in particular. I guess it'll be a complete set now.

Perhaps by the time you get around to reading this you won't have any customers left.

A company can be worthy of loyalty if they are loyal to you, their customer, and provide dependable service. But AS has dropped a lot of snipes over the last few days . . . and there's no word of the problems in the "News and Updates" forum, and the only answers we get here are "It must be eBay's fault."

So speaking for myself, I won't be loyal to AS if I keep losing auctions because they don't place my bid for me!

Untrue. Only 41 in the past 2.5 days and that is just a tiny fraction of a percent. I'm sure we're even sending those, but what can you do when people enter 1,2,3 second snipes. Sometimes eBay or the internet is slow and they're not going to make it. Certainly we're sending them as we should, and on time. If we werent it wouldn't be only 41.

Frankly, I dont believe. Me myself has 7 bids "creditet" because they were way not in time. And I have some that say "Bid to low" but looking at "confirmation" shows an ebay response saying "this auction has ended at...". And it was not cancelled early. So if I have 8 snipes affected, the total cant be 41.

Also, I have NEVER 1, 2 or 3 second snipes. I always use 5 seconds (as you recommend).

I really don't understand your policy here. AS is a great tool and sniping is risky. So if once in a while a bunch of snipes fall thru because they are too late, then its the game....

the only thing I dont like is when MySnipes shows nonsense. And it does.

Btw: still noone answered the question what the status message "did not win" means. Is this a silly question or what?
