Hi,

I am new at this. I recognize the risks making the lead time too long versus too short. This auction I really want to win and have placed a high snipe. The auction ends Monday around 9 AM. Is the current experience that 5 seconds is still the optimum setting versus the week-end recommendation of 7-12 seconds?

Thanks,

John

Those are probably as good of lead times as any. There are one, or two, that think 8 seconds is good, but I think that’s tempting a reactive snipe. It’s been a long (very long) time since anyone reported a not-in-time on this forum. AS pads the lead time based on what it “thinks” is the current response time on ebay. It’s not uncommon for a 3-second snipe to turn into a 6-second snipe. So, it’s somewhat follows that a 6 or 8 could turn into a 9 or 11. Seeing that there are probably a lot of users that go with the minimum (3 seconds), and without a not-in-time complaint, then you might consider 3 seconds. But, any recommendation you get from users will be their personal beliefs, which probably were based on something that happen several years ago and hasn’t been updated due to improvements made in internet land.
