I just discovered the insurance option which especially appealed to me because I just won an auction where the seller did not offer the option of insurance. So, I figured out how to go back to my snipe and update it so it would include insurance (apparently you can do this up to 48 hours after winning). Will this be valid even though the seller doesn't offer insurance himself? Then tonight I won another auction and also added the insurance option after I won (next time I will remember to check the insurance option when I submit my snipe). In this case I don't have the exact shipping cost but should have it by tomorrow. Will I then go back and adjust this so that I will be insured for the full amount including the shipping costs? Thanks in advance!

Yep, it sounds like you're all set. Just be sure to get the exact shipping entered once you know it.

I was finally going to use it on a vase I wanted today. I had a snipe in for $50 more than the current dipsticks that were in a mini bid war about 15 minutes before the auction ended, which ran it up another $75. I felt safe knowing that my bid was $50 more than the guy that just upped his bid. Needless to say another 2 other snipers came along and bid $120 more than mine Frown

I've been getting searches forever on these and I've only seen 2 of these vases come up in about 3 years and they're worth about $800-1000 I think. The seller had it up for $200 starting bid with no reserve. I was feeling lucky since up until the last day it had had no bids.

Oh well. I thought I might get a good deal on it. It had about 200 counter hits so I knew it was likely to get sniped. I was just hoping to get a good deal and finally have an item worth insuring. Oh well, I probably didnt need to spend it on a vase anyways. If things hold true I wont see another one for about 18 months so I'll have plenty of time to stew about it.
I've seen it before in a gallery. Although each is hand blown and painted and unique I still felt that I'd be happy buying it on eBay. I feel good that 2 other people both sniped way more than me even though the price had only been $200 the whole auction.

The winner had spent almost $2000 yesterday alone on items from the company that made the vase. I checked back and they'd won like $6-8k in times in the past 3 months. Hopefully they only want 1 of those vases because I can't compete against a collector like that.
