Importing from Ebay "Items I'm watching"

I couldn't find this info anywhere, so "help, plz."

When I was getting set-up tonight, there was an option to import the items I was watching on Ebay. When I did that, it seems bids were placed on all/most of them, even though i didn't fill out the form to do so, OR set any bid amounts. It showed "Ready" on all of them--a bid at the current price level, and later I received several "outbid" notices via email. These gave an amount I supposedly bid, with an amount over that by someone else. (Also, when I checked the item itself on ebay, no one had bid the higher bid reported by AS.) I went in and cancelled the bids on the others, which also removed them from my AS list.

So, if we import from ebay, does it automatically bid on each item?

It will show you any items you are bidding on, or watching. The idea of course is mainly to add them to the items I'm watching at eBay by clicking the link on the eBay Auction that says that.

Then later you can come and use the Import wizard to show you a list of all those items and you then check the box next to each you want to add as a snipe.

Generally you dont want to bid first on eBay and then import. It lowers your odds of winning since other bidders know you're bidding or bid stalkers that follow your bidding habits to find good items will also bid on the item you bid on, etc.

So, if as you say, the point is to also just import items I'm watching from Ebay, why did the intial import place bids/snipes that I didnt' place? It automatically bid on several items at the then price--though I never gave any bid notice or amount--in fact, didn't even want to bid.

THEN--to really make my day, a pair of skates I did put in to snipe today ended--at well below my offered snipe, with no snipe placed for me at all. ( Item # 1843768067) The skates went for $40, and my bid was $47.????. This was a truly hard to find type/size I very much wanted.

So, I've had bids placed I didn't place, and a bid I really wanted placed lost in space.

Any ideas/suggestions? Confused
