I think you might be worrying too much about this...as I just replied to the same thread in another part of the forum... Frown You shouldn't have such fears about AS, I'm sure they do all they can to protect our accounts. This is a business they are running, and when people want a successful business, they do ALL they can to take care of their clients/customers. They know they have to have a good rep, and do all they can to satisfy people. I have never heard any complaints about account info being stolen while using AS...so I highly doubt the info you received about this is liable.

I missed a snipe on Sunday, 10/19 for no apparent reason. My snipe proxy was $41.00 over $12.00 more than the auction closing price. I see posts that express concerns over lead time. If there is a concern over the lead time, then why have a company like AuctionSniper.com???????? If I can't Snipe an auction with AS then what's the advantage?

I lost an auction on Sunday because AS never made the snipe, (at all), I immediately wrote an email to AS and asked what happened. They have not responded, of course. All my AS page says is "did not win" (Really, no kidding?) Item # 3559401855

I use AS for most of my final bids, and I bid on a lot of stuff, See (ufocafe) on eBay. But I'm not a happy customer at this time.
As checks the traffic many times on Sunday and does it's best to adjust to it. Most of us here in the forum do add extra time on the hour, half and quarter, on Sunday and other very busy times. My normal time set is 8 seconds and I add about 15 to it during those times. I guess everyone has his own ideas. It sounds like you normally have success with AS, so I assume they could not adjust enough because of your short lead. If you don't win, AS doesn't get paid, so you know they do try. Btw, glad to have you here voicing your opinion!

letitride: eBay was running slowly at that time. Often taking upwards of 30-45 seconds to accept a bid. While our servers automatically do make adjustments a swing of even another couple seconds slower would make our adjustments worthless and your snipe would be missed. i.e. if they were running 30 seconds slow so we placed your 5 second lead snipe at 35 seconds, and then they slowed to 40 seconds then your snipe would be 5 second late.

You may receive some free snipes here. We credit free snipes for any missed snipe even when eBay is down 100% and nobody can get to the site:
