I'm not sure about the max bid...

Place your snipe at the max you want to pay. An odd number can often give you an advantage, such as 21.96 instead of 20.00. AS will send the bid to ebay at the last possible moment and ebay will use just the portion needed to win over the higest bidder..a one time, last minute proxy bid, placed one time.

Your snipe amount with be $250. If the high bid at the time your snipe is place is $200, you’d get it for $202.50 ($2.50 increment at that range). If the high bidder at the time your snipe is placed is higher, then up the ebay increment ladder you’ll go. If the other bidder bid $250, you don’t get it. If the other bidder bid $250 (with a $200 current price and no other bidders) and you bid $250.01 you get it.

Great, thanks to you both! I just didn't want to put my max bid at $250 when the current high bid is only $200 and have it automatically snipe at $250 instead of $202.50 ($2.50 increments).

Read up on Proxy bids on ebay help and imagine that AS is a robotic version of yourself who never sleeps and can bid on anything right at the end.
