Have not joined either, but have a few questions. First, I cannot figure out what's in this for AS; do they charge for snipping? Second, when several of you reported a seller "dis-allowing" a sale that was snipped, did they do it after you already won the bid??? Lastly, if i register, do I need to worry about more "spam"? I notice that in the "terms of use" you must allow them to link your email address to other web sites; this worries me .... what do you all think about each of these 3 concerns?
BQ Karen asks, "First, I cannot figure out what's in this for AS; do they charge for snipping?"

After your first three wins, which are free, there is a minor charge for successful snipes only (you don't pay if you don't win) which is a percentage of the winning bid and can never exceed $5. It's usually far less.

"Second, when several of you reported a seller "dis-allowing" a sale that was snipped, did they do it after you already won the bid???"

Yes. However, I believe their efforts were unsuccessful since sniping is specifically allowed by eBay and a winning bid is a contract which binds the seller as well as the buyer. A complaint to eBay by the sniper under such circumstances should result in the seller being directed to complete the transaction.

"Lastly, if i register, do I need to worry about more "spam"? I notice that in the "terms of use" you must allow them to link your email address to other web sites; this worries me .... what do you all think about each of these 3 concerns?"

No spam. None. Zero. Zilch. They have to link your e-mail address to eBay, which is what they're talking about. They need your legal consent to do that.

Hope you join us. You sound like you'd make a very methodical -- and therefore a very successful -- sniper. Smile
