Can you tell me why I must fill in a code at ebay today? It cost me several snipes becaude you all could not verify my ID evidently.

One of the things that will cause it is someone trying to hack into your account at eBay. If your ID and password are entered incorrectly X number of times in a row, eBay adds the extra layer of security. This is done to prevent automated hacks. (computers can't read the code you must enter)
There is no way for AS to bid for you when this happens, because their bidding computers can't read the code either. This extra security is reset each evening at eBay. You should be OK tomorrow.

I suggest you log onto eBay, entering the code on the way. Then log out. Switch off the computer then try logging in again. If the code request is still there then contact ebay. If it isn't then the problem is 'gone'. If it returns then contact ebay as there must be some problem with your account. Check that AS has the same ID and password as eBay in case that is causing the problem.

The code request goes away around midnight eBay time each day. It doesnt go away any other way.
The usual cuase is some service trying to log into your account too many times with the wrong password. Usually if you are an eBay seller then it's your 3rd party listing and auction management company.
If your password is wrong with us that's the first thing you should fix. However you cant do it when the 4 digit security code request is up.
