This time I felt I had no choice. A buyer won an auction of mine almost two weeks ago. It was for a measly $1.79 plus shipping - the minimum bid - and she bid in the last 12 hours. Payment was due within 7 days. She didn't contact me for a week, even tho I sent her 3 reminders. When she finally contacted me she said she was having financial problems becuase her DH lost his job unexpectedly, yadda yadda yadda, and she couldn't pay. Fine. I thought about what type of feedback to leave and was going to leave neutral only because I HATE leaving negative (I've only done it once in my 2 years on ebay). Then the next day I decide to do a little search on this bidder and find that she was bidding and winning auctions the day after she told me she can't afford to pay for mine! Mad I left negative feedback right then and there. She ended up leaving me neutral (why? she didn't even complete her end of the deal) so I responded to it and said she continued bidding after she told me she couldn't afford to pay.

I just needed to vent about this with other ebayers. I think this buyer had a lot of you-know-what's to tell me she doesn't have the money to pay for mine yet she continued to bid on (and win) eight more auctions for the next three days.

Thanks for letting me get that off my chest!

For what it's worth, I'd probably block this buyer from bidding on any future auctions. Like you, I'm much too generous with the good feedback sometimes, but this buyer can't reasonably expect anything better. She says she can't afford $1.79 plus shipping and expects you to believe her?? It would be interesting to see how many of the other auctions she pays for and how long it'll take her to get NARUed.
Jeez...the nerve of this bidder. No doubt she was making up an excuse and trying to get out of paying. Considering she won the item for such a small amount, I can't see how she can say that she wasn't able to pay for it...and the evidence that she was still bidding is proof enough. She definately deserved that neg. Hopefully she won't be on eBay for long with that kind of attitude.

Not to sound dumb, or anything, but what does "DH" stand for? 'darling' husband? 'dastardly' husband?? 'da#n' husband?!? Wink

But, seriously, while I think I know who it refers to, I don't know what it specifically translates to. Thanks!

The item was a big bag of buttons so it had some weight to it. I originally had the item listed with a starting bid of $3.99 and $3.85 flat rate priority shipping. It didn't sell so I relisted and lowered the starting bid to $1.79 with $2.50 first class shipping & handling (to cover the cost of postage, bubble wrap and padded envelope). I was practically giving it away, especially since I paid more than that for the buttons myself (on ebay no less! Big Grin) A bag that size would cost about $5.00 in a craft store so the buyer wasn't overpaying.

I can understand someone not bidding if the shipping is too high (I won't either) but she did bid so she was obligated to pay. No payment = negative feedback.

I think this auction was cursed right from the start. I chose not to relist it a third time. Anyone want a bag of buttons? LOL

BTW - DH = darling husband, dear husband, damn husband, whatever suits your mood. LOL I have even seen it used for D**k H**d. Eek
I guess I am crazy.. I would rather pay $2.50 for first class with handling charges than $3.85 or more for priority Smile

Most of the items I sell are really small and cost about $.63-.80 actual postage. I have yet to have someone complain about me charging $2 S&H (which is enough to cover the box, packing supplies, and paypal charges) I am sure the actual shipping on the buttons was more than $.80 ... leave this deadbeat a NEG!

You're not crazy Donald! I wouldn't pay it either, LOL! I was in a hurry to list the first time around so I gave it the flat rate shipping charge. The second time around was an educated guess, because I ship craft supplies often and have a pretty good idea of how much it'll cost. It would have been up around $2.00 for sure, if not more. I prefer using flat rate priority because I don't have to buy the envelopes nor do I have to make a trip to the P.O. to get my packaged weighed before listing. (yeah, I'm lazy and too cheap to buy my own scale!) Big Grin
Here's a follow up to this situation. I checked the seller's feedback again last night and she has two more negatives posted since mine. Same thing - no contact and no payment. The seller of those auctions (same seller for both) mentioned in her feedback that the buyer was still bidding on other auctions and that she reported her to ebay. (I did also) I don't know if anything will happen because all her other feedbacks are very positive. She said to me in a follow up email that her mother-in-law is also using the account and that was her doing the other bidding. If that's the case then she's damaging her mother-in-law's good feedback, wouldn't you say?
