Is "MAX BID" the highest a bidder is willing to go up to the Final second of the auction?

Here is where I am at:
My bid was for $49.00 the Item is now at $50.00 but I am willing to go up to $200.00, Do I then set my MAX BID to $200.00? And if no one else bid's, does "sniper" just bid a dollar? AND I win at $51.00? This is pretty new to me so please don't make too much fun of me.

I REALLY need to win this item!!

It just makes me nervous that I am not winning!

PLEASE HELP......

Correct, if no one else bids, you would win the auction for $50. AS does nothing special with your increment; it simply submits the $200 bid and eBay applies as much of that as is necessary to make you the high bidder. What AS does so wonderfully is sending it with only seconds to spare, minimizing the chance of a counterbid. Plus, you do not have to be at your computer when the auction ends.

Most of us recommend that you use an unusual amount, like $201.46, in case some one else before you were to bid the same round $200 figure. (Ties go to the first bidder.) Also, set the snipe to go with eight seconds left, with an additional 15-20 seconds if the auction ends exactly on a quarter, half, three-quarters or on the hour itself. These are busy times, because of pricing specials eBay offers sellers to end at those hours. AND ON SUNDAY EVENING, eBay's busiest time of all, be sure to add another 15-20 seconds, lest your bid not get through in time, due to overloaded eBay servers. Good luck! Big Grin
