Hi,

I went to the "bid groups" explanations, but didn't find any answer to this question :

How can I snipe an ebay item which is below reserve price ?

That means I would like to buy it JUST for the reserve price, which is unknown of course, BUT there's also a "buy it now" price, which gives some indication...

So should I probably create a bidding group to bring things up to the reserve price ?

But how will AS know that the reserve price has been reached ?

Thanks for your answers !

Hmm - you need to think how AS works - it bids once, at your max, in the last seconds of the Auction.

Then you need to think about Bidgroups - this is where AS bids on different items until you win one (or more if you specified more) of those items. So not relevant to your requirements in this case where you're looking at just one item!

Then you need to think about eBay and how that works. Say there's a reserve of 50 and the item is at 9. You don't know the reserve (but as 50 is the minimum that's the least it will be) so you snipe 60.03. AS will bid 60.03 right at the end which beats the reserve and, if there are no other (higher) bids, you'll win for the reserve.

But, if you were to manually bid less than the reserve now then eBay's proxy bidding will come into play (and the Buy it Now (BIN) will probably disappear as well) and the auction will go to 10 (if that's the next increment). It's only when you beat the reserve that you will be shown to be over the reserve.

So, a bit of research is needed by you Z, read AS's FAQs and then read up on Proxy Bidding, Reserves and Buy it Now on Ebay's help.

Also, if you're worried about the BIN then bid manually and the start bid price to get rid of it and set up a snipe at your max. You could also (and this is naughty) bid a really large amount then withdraw that bid to see the reserve. Or just bid a really large amount (a nuclear bid) and you're almost 100% certain to win...

Thanks for your quick reply !

In fact, the highest bid is 2050, and the buy it now price is 3000.

This auction will end within six hours.

I can use several ebay accounts to reach the reserve price, but at the very last moment, in order to avoid other bidders interest.

All I wanted to know was if AS could provide any solution in such a case.

Thanks for your help !
