I was the first bidder for an auction directly on EBay. I later put in a snipe to make sure I would remain the high bidder. When the auction ended, another bidder showed up with an bid date 3 DAYS before my first bid. That bid NEVER appeared on ebay until the end of the auction. Is there a snipe program out there that can alter the date the bid was submitted? The auction is (Item # 2412991513) if anyone wants to take a look and educate me on how this happens.

"If the winning bid was there originally, my other two bids would not have been accepted, I don't think."

The winning bid was there originally but didn't show as the final amount at first because most of it was in proxy form. Your two bids show because they increased the amount of the winning bid -- but I agree with Rick, that other bid was definitely in place before you entered the auction. How often, if at all, did you actually go to the auction site and check to see if you actually were the high bidder?
We've probably all experienced something weird in ebay. You can't have as much volume as ebay does, without strange things happening from time to time. In addition, using an automated sniping service adds a clandestine element to the experience. Without passing judgment, I'll accept that ebay did what you said it did. Don't worry about AS doing anything strange and don't worry about someone hacking into ebay and changing auction dates. We'll just say that this was a one-in-a-million, and you'll never see it again, nor will you ever know how it happened.

Don't forget everyone; It's Sunday - use longer lead times. Wink

Why did you place the earlier bid and show interest on the item? The whole point of sniping is to wait until the last seconds and spring unexpectedly. You may have unnecessarily contributed to the price going up. Confused
Rick -
I assume you are on the west coast, and this forum is using the senders time as the post time? Or, this is a conspiracy to highlight or accelerate the onset of old age syndrome?

Chatter -
I wasn't using this snipe tool when I made the initial bid, yes it was counter productive.
This forum's default timestamp is Pacific Time. That can be changed, but the times would still be relative to the selected time zone. Your post was 2 minutes before mine.

"this is a comspiracy" is what I'm going to go with. Strange things seem to happen with dates and times when you're around. It probably has something to do with your anniversary on ebay being all 9's. That must have put some kind of "timestamp curse" on you. Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin
