Hello everyone. I've just used Auctionsniper for the first time, and it all went wrong, but I don't understand what happened. I'm left feeling very fed up and frustrated as I really wanted the item (hence using Auctionsniper for the first time). I bid $20 for an item, and when the auction finished I was told via email that 'bid was below increment' However, the winning bid was $19.89. How can this happen when I bid more? I am really fed up, and I have another sniper ending in 2 days, I'm really worried the same thing will happen. Can anyone offer an explanation? Your help is much appreciated, from unhappy Helen xx Confused

Ebay rejected your bid because your ”bid was below increment”. You would have had the same problem had you placed your own bid via ebay instead of using AS. Your bid needed to be at least $20.39 ($19.89 current price + .50 increment) just to be allowed by ebay. And, if you aren’t familiar with ebay’s bid increments, then you might also be unfamiliar with proxy bids. $20.39 would have been the minimum bid for ebay to even register it, but the winning proxy bid could have been much higher, so no way of knowing how much you would have needed to bid to win.

Here’s some reading on ebay’s increments (also read the related links in the following link):
