You bid in the currency of the auction. If you're on the US site and they're using something other than US dollars it will give the amount in the currency that the auction is in (in this case, Australian dollars) with the approximate equivalent in US dollars underneath. Sometimes sellers in other countries will list using US dollars, but I haven't seen that happen very often.

If the currency is something other than US dollars, you'll need to be sure that you can pay in that currency before placing a bid. If they offer paypal, this isn't a problem. And good luck! Smile

Thanks - I'll put in the AU dollar since that's how the auction is stated on e-bay

Hmmmm how does this work if the person wants to do a COD? I wished this guy would use paypal.

My other options are:
Wire transfer/Direct debit (I don't trust)
Money order/Cashiers check (better but still don't trust)
If it's in Australian dollars, then that is what you'd use to bid. It would be a good idea to contact the seller before bidding to see what they say about payment. I've heard that some US money orders are hard to cash in some countries and that some places charge a hefty fee. I always use Paypal when dealing with sellers outside the US, so I'm not really up to speed on using money orders.
You're welcome, and sorry I couldn't be of more help. There are other forum members who know more about other forms of payment than I do. If you check back later, they'll probably be able to help you more than I could.

I haven't found it to be any harder to buy things from other parts of the world than it is to buy locally as long as they offer a payment option that's easy to use.
I do accept paypal from anywhere. I also accept cashier's checks or globial money orders. It is not a big deal. I guess you have to have a certain amount of trust to bid on any action. I do agree with R2, probably 99% or better pay me with paypal and I seldom bid on an auction that does not accept paypal.
