Hi!
I'm new to this whole thing...but I have to win this auction in three days or ....anyway this all came about because I bid on the same item over a week ago and was winning it until someone outbid me in the last minute or so..its rare and its a birthday gift..anyway I noticed that the same person is bidding on this second auction and I panicked..I even wrote to them and asked them to let me win..(they never replied..of course)so here I am..I set my lead time at 3 seconds..but after reading some of the discussions I'm panicking again..do you usually win these things? Any advice? Thanks, Lilyblossoms

Set the max you want to pay. Add a few pence/cents (eg 8.03 is better than 8.00)

Set the lead time to 8 seconds. Slightly higher on Auctions that end on exact 1/4 hours on Sunday pm.

Don't panic.

And remember, on ebay nothing is rare. You said yourself that two have already appeared in the space of a week. Unless they're Gary Glitter tickets then be patient and set up an eBay search...

Rick's point is that all this is covered in the tip sheet and FAQs.

Sundays are a busy time for various reasons so allow a bit extra (although AS does too) for these times.

A snipe is exactly the same as a bid so is dealt with ebay in the same way (read up on proxy bidding and bidding on ebay help) - the chances of two snipes arriving at the same time are smaller than 0.000000000000001123 (no, really!) Remember, it is the highest bid that wins, not the last!
