I think AS might have changed how they handle "expired" bid groups. I just found this in the faq:
35. How come I can’t reuse a bid group?

Bid Groups are sensitive. Once a bid group is expired (the amount of items that you wanted to win, have been won), you cannot add another item. It is locked.

It's the, "It is locked" phrase that makes me think this is an enhancement. In the past, one could continue to add auctions to an expired bid group. This caused some confusion for new members, which didn't know that the bid group folder had to be deleted.

Has anyone had recent first hand experience with a "locked" bid group?

No, or maybe. But not recently, as in the last year. The FAQ needs updating. Here's some info you need to know about bid groups.

If you already had a win in that bid group...no matter when...it will automatically cancel the rest. That's what thet're designed to do. You'll either need to create a new bid group,or up the amount you want your bid group to win by clicking on Folders/Manager(above your first ready snipe to the right)highlighting the number, increasing it, then clicking on update.Or you can move the win (s) to another folder, which should renable the bid group.
