hi, has any of you put your snipes at 1sec left on auction? if so what has been your experience with it.. or is it better to go with 3 or 5 seconds thanx in advance Bones
Hi, bones. The folks at AuctionSniper recommend nothing under 3 seconds for AS snipes. AS has the theoretical capability to submit a bid with 1 second to go, but there are too many variables between AS and eBay that could cause the bid to be just a nanosecond too late. And anyway, it's not necessary to cut it that fine. Very few people can get in another bid in seven seconds or less, and even if they do they have to be able to top your bid. Personally, I use 7 to 10 seconds.
Our system can handle one second snipes, but we do not recomend it or let our users use a one second lead time (we force it to 2 seconds.)
As Steve said, there are a lot of variables that influence when a snipe is placed -- and using a one second lead time greatly increases the chances that your snipe will not be received by eBay in time.
