Please spare a thought for those people who lost families, loved ones, homes and livelyhoods in the tsunami disaster in Asia - has there been much press coverage in the USA? Here in UK there are collections everywhere - we've collected 48 million pounds ($90,000,000) so far apparently. I have a friend who was in Madras - sent some lovely photos of the beaches there before Christmas - heard nothing since.

Glad you brought this subject up R-2. I too hope people will remember all those affected by the disaster and send a donation if possible. Last I heard the US pledged 350 million dollars. Yes, there is a lot of media coverage here. My thoughts and prayers are with your friend.

Yes - our thoughts are with them. A deserving cause far removed from giving money to nations that are hell bent on their own destruction.
May their lives be rebuilt, and may some sort of warning system be put in place to avoid future carnage.

Yes, my prayers go out to every soul lost and those that survived the horror. My great-granddaughter has many relatives in Thailand.
R2, our press has be constant. I watched one news anchor report with tears!

R2, I hope your friend is safe and OK.
I don't get TV, but most of what's on the news on the internet and over the radio is about the disaster. There are lots of collections. It's going to take a lot of money and work for them to rebuild. My prayers are with them, too.

If only some of the money and troops that are used up each day in the war would be sent over to help the desaster area. It would be the "Compassionate" thing to do. And, let us not forget those in the war on all sides. Especially the unfortunate, innocent children.
