Here I go with another observation:

On these kind of auctions, there tends to be an inverse relationship between the closing price and the number of hits. Also (although not on this one), you'll see a lot of new people bid on these type of auctions (weird kinds) and end up not paying for them.

I think they are trying to get a few more seconds over their allotted 15 minutes of fame.

I have a real Coke Bottle with a Cig butt floating in it.. Offered it to the Coke museum and they replied they would check the cap for tampering and if "real" would consider buying it. I didn't like their attitude so just kept it and have been showing it to guests for 50 years. Not that any of my parties are dull. . Ha Ha I posted an add for Baleen - just had to get Serial off the front page...good morning - & afternoon all.. mory

Well we have are first bruise Confused Tyler face planted the door and has a HUGE big bruise on his head. Silly Bugger!! Its funny how you always resort back to what your parents used to say...mine was "Look at what you did to the door? - you've put a big dent in it!" He just looked at me...rubbed his head.....kept going LOL takes after his Mum Razz

...with kids & doors?

Some friends of mine have a boy & girl. When the kids were about 5 & 3, the younger girl had a run in with either a door or a piece of furniture. She ended up with a really ugly looking bruise that covered about 1/4 of her face! Eek When it was at its worst looking, Mom was seriously concerned about taking her out in public -- she was afraid someone would report her as a suspected child abuser and she'd lose her kids! Eek After a few weeks, the bruise was barely a memory! Smile

I had one of those, but the door was made of glass... I have the scar to prove it, but (luckily) only one!

I'm always amazed at the number of auctions for absolutely NOTHING on the web... But do you ever wonder if they're NOT actually selling "nothing"?

I saw one once that was a toothbrush. The picture showed it sitting on the rim of a toilet, and the description said it was used. Carefully written to sound as UNappealing as possible, as if that wasn't enough... But if you looked closely, there was an extra seam in the handle, like maybe it separated to reveal something hidden inside? And the seller had several other items listed that could be called "paraphenalia"...

I'm in an apartment with a security-door. You can't get in unless you have a key or someone inside buzzes you in.

It doesn't happen with USPS (United States Postal Service, the "regular" mail). Only with UPS (United Parcel Service, a commercial carrier). Since USPS is a "quasi-governmental agency" they are allowed access to just about everywhere. They can come directly into my apartment building, where the mailboxes are, and if they have a package they just leave it in the hall outside my door.

But UPS (the commercial carrier) can't get into the building unless I'm here when they deliver... so they leave a slip on the outside door, and you have to sign it giving them permission to just leave the package outside. Somehow the package still makes it's way inside by the time I get home, but I think it's just because one of my neighbors is nice enough to carry it in when they get home.

But that's why I don't buy plants in the winter. No idea how long they'll sit on the doorstep until one of my neighbors gets home -- not to mention where it might be kept in transit.

Incidentally, if you live in a house the situation is often reversed. Regular mail is left in a box at the end of your drive, or at the entrance to your neighborhood, while packages sent by commercial carrier get carried up to your door. which is one of the reasons it's important (in US auctions) to know what the shipping method is.
Best explanation of the mail I ever read - I'm saving it for use when I insist on UPS - many sellers won't ship UPS so if they say no UPS I email them a note saying I want the item but will bid only if they will ship UPS. Never had anyone refuse.
My mail carrier is good though but I treat her VERY well at Christmas. In the country we can now leave money with a package and the rural carrier will mail it and leave the change in an envelope the next day - the same for stamps.
This saves driving and lines at the PO. Great in winter like this week.
This is a new official PO service - I guess UPS is hurting the PO business BAD. mory
