Forgive me, dumb question!!

I need to know if I need to be the "current high bidder" in order for my snipe to work?? I'm not really understanding this whole sniping thing, someone please help!

Nope. Placing a snipe is like placing any other bid. Everything that would apply to a proxy (manual) bid, applies to a snipe, only the snipe is in the last few seconds.
