Hi,

i have placed a snipe on an auction i want to win really badly. It is on German ebay and ends at 10:00am. What is the safest lead, 5 or 8 or 15 ?
Will the AS Servers not care the auction is in Germany ? I also cannot get any information about my competition, as the identities are hidden by the seller, but there are only 20 bids now, one day before closing.

Any advice welcome

Correction:

There were some discussions (say 6 months ago?) that ebay Germany no longer allowed automated sniping services. I just tried to locate those posts, but was unsuccessful. It seems that some said it did, and some said it didn't.???

If the item is really important, you might want to leave a manual snipe, and have AS also snipe. Your AS snipe should be the next bid increment over your manual snipe, that way you can verify whether ebay Germany accepted it.
Hopefully someone with actual, and recent, experience sniping on the German site will provide a definite answer to your question.

You might try placing a low snipe on something cheap and that already has a proxy bid as a test. There's a good chance that the snipe won't be high enough, so you won't waste money.

Also, even though you do a manual snipe, AS will probably bill you for their snipe.
I have also looked around and can find nothing on legislation restricting sniping. I still have nothing to lose as i'm using the first of my three free snipes, so i believe i won't be charged even if i do win. All i really have to do is get the maximum bid up there, manually , at a good level and then execute the snipe as insurance.

AP,

If Steve is correct, and he usually is, and if you haven't already done so, check out your "Instamail" option. It's on your "Modify Account" under "My Snipes" page.

If AS wins your snipe, this option controls whether AS will send a notice to the seller telling them you used a sniping service.
