Ebay proxy bidding?

Hi,
Maybe I don't understand how auctionsniper/proxy bidding works, but can someone explain this series of bids:

Now, the way I understand proxy bidding, my first bid should have registered as $130, then progressively gone up (I understand I would have lost anyway, just trying to understand the mechanics). Instead, it bid $140 off the bat, no automatic (grayed out) bids from me.

Is there something I'm missing?

AS placed your $140 snipe, which ebay applied to h***9’s proxy bid that was “at least” $142.50 ($140 + $2.50 increment). Your $140 bid increased h***9’s closing bid to $142.50.
