Yes i've had some auctions canceled.a seller just went off on me because i used a "sniping" program.this is a fellow i've purchased from before but he was very, very, very upset with me.he told me under no uncertin terms to ever do it again.he sent the "snipe"email to ebay and asked them to take steps against it.called it illegal etc.is this the end of Auction Sniper?
You need to tell the irate seller to go pound sand. There us absolutely no eBay prohibition against using sniper software; there is only the prohibition against using its link in an auction listing.

The seller needs to complete the transaction, as he is required to do, without any form of harrassment. Otherwise it is he he may be reported to eBay.

What is it with these whiners?
What is going on? When I email for support I get
told it's ok and that it works for him when he tries it. So what, the problem is it doesn't work for me. It doesn't matter that it works for him, it's not his to snipe with anyway. I can't use it and I am losing items that I can't sit and wait at the computer to bid on over again. I read that ebay is canceling bids from sniper, is that true? If so maybe that's what is happening to me. My cookies are enabled so I know it isn't that that's wrong. Anyone know what is happening since support isn't being very supportive. They are ignoring me now :mad
I snipe about 80% of what I bid on and only problem I've had (other than AS update time) is when another bidder sent me a nasty email. I responded that I had no choice but to snipe as I had been getting sniped over 50% of the time and losing the items just like he had been. I told him about AS and some details and he apologized. I've not had any complaints from sellers or from eBay.
HI I STARTED USING AUCTION SNIPER BECAUSE EVEN AT THE LAST MINUTE THE SPEED OF MY COMPUTER COULDN'T KEEP UP WITH THE COMPETITION. SOUNDS LIKE A BUNCH OF CRYBABIES TO ME. WHO IS THIS GUY?? I WANT TO MAKE SURE HE DOESN'T HEAR FROM ME IN THE WAY OF BIDS - SNIPES OR OTHERWISE!! PERSONALY I HAVE HAD NO COMPLAINTS FROM ANYONE I'VE DEALT WITH. AT LEAST I FEEL I HAVE A FIGHTING CHANCE - SOMEDAY TOO MANY SNIPERS WILL HAVE TO BE DEALT WITH BUT FOR NOW I PRETTY PLEASED!!
I've only been using Auction Sniper for a week or so, but I certainly haven't had any complaints from the buyers so far. Of course, that may have had something to do with the fact that I've ended up being the _only_ bidder on several of those items. Cool Since they wouldn't have had a sale otherwise, there's really no reason for them to complain. Given that sniping is probably THE basic tactic for any experienced eBay user, and given that, as I've often observed, last-minute snipes often tend to drive up the prices way high, it is a mystery to me why sellers would object to anything that maximizes their proceeds. I would personally love to see several AS users get into a last-minute bidding war over one of my own items...more $, more $$! Big Grin

Oh, and by the way, there's another use I have for Auction Sniper which really doesn't have anything to do with last-minute bidding - it's to bid for items when I can't be present at my computer. In fact, that's what I've used it for so far! I don't have Internet access at work and even if I did they wouldn't like me hovering over eBay listings, so AS is really a godsend to me in this respect - it's well worth the quarter to be able to win something that would otherwise be inaccessible to me because the auction ends during the workday (or when I'm in bed).

I quote from eBay's FAQ page:
Does Section 7 prohibit me from using auction management software to track my personal transactions on eBay?
eBay must have the ability to disallow certain types of monitoring and copying of our site in the interest of protecting the integrity of the eBay system and your information. Section 7 is written in somewhat general terms because we cannot anticipate every type of device or process that might use your (and our) information in an unauthorized way. Generally, we consider use of the following types of software to be permissible: bulk upload/listing software (such as "Mr. Lister"), Smileautomatic bidding software Smile, and auction management software, which enable users to keep track of their own personal bidding and selling information at eBay.

Seems to me that AuctionSniper is permissible from that statement!

Is it not true that you can "disable" the option that automatically emails the seller?

I'm a newbie - and I took this step straight away, as I didn't want buyers knowing that I was a sniper.

Before sniping, I used to sit there refreshing the damn page every 3 seconds in the last couple of minutes - and I used to win with 2 - 10 seconds to go.

I'm in the UK, and I don't think sniping has taken off in a big way over here yet - unless you know different?

I agree.....at first I didn't have the AS email turned off and was surprised when I got a reply from one of the emails to the buyer. He didn't have a problem with me using AS, but I feel it's better keeping a low profile.
I couldn't believe it..the bid was $149 and change....i raised by $2.50 then thought...OH NO, what if someone else raises by the same $2.50 with 1 minute left?.....i started to sweat..will there be a tie???....i returned but blundered to my snipe page and put in $5.00 extra but.....OH NO....with 8 seconds left the snipe tells me that there's already a snipe for this acct number....OH NO...4 seconds left...i am able to change it back because the refresh didn't work........OH NO....can't get back to the auction page for 1 last second........WHOOOOOOO...123hollywood is the winner....damn this piece of.....hey wait...that's me!! Yipeeeeee!
The biggest RUSH and the most fun I've had in at least 3 days! (grin) this thing really works...if ebay shuts me down tomorrow...i don't care..they cannot take away from me the most fun & excitement & knowing i beat those bast**ds just that 1 time....i'll never forget....

Thank you, Auction Sniper!

Yes Steve, normally I would agree with your "bid the maximum" but in watching this auction for a few days, I saw no reason to waste any more money than I had to. Either way it's all still a gamble...so for 5 or 6 days this auction had only one bid, so thought I'd use a freebie snipe as a test, instead of a really large amount that I felt like I had to win....and to me, a still unproven scheme. ("Not just a scheme anymore though") Thanks, Auction Sniper!

Why, you may now ask, did I not just stay a proxy bidder 'cause I would have won anyway?
Because, since we're all mortals, we tend to get all caught up in a frenzy when we're showed a new way of doing things...things that seem too good to be true.....then we tend to look over our shoulders a little bit and figure that hey...what if another sniper plans to wait till the last second like I did? (big grin)... so we all sometimes get paranoid that the same tricks just might be played on us...or a proxy bidder was waiting till the last few seconds to bid, not familiar with sniping...maybe none of this makes any sense, but to me, life and everything in it is a game and a gamble...so have as much fun as you possibly can. I know I do.

Sincerely,

I use Auction Sniper for one reason....I am currently working on the island of Guam and don't have time to stay at my computer, constantly refreshing my computer screen attempting to get an item I either want or need.

Most of the auctions I visit end when I am away at work. It is more of a convenience than a necessity. I just don't want to spend my working hours bidding on Ebay when I can "snipe" an auction while I am not at home.

Beyond that, I am connected to the internet via a 56k modem (that usually connects at 24k or less, lol) so I would be at a distinct disadvantage to my broadband counterparts who can refresh their screen every second (trust me, I used to do that too).

I'm glad there are services like this one. It just evens the playing field for little folks like me.

If Ebay were ever to declare the auction sinper illegal, I would have to never use Ebay again simply because I would never win an auction (outside of the Buy it Now auctions) again!
