I've had mostly happy wins and haven't used AS for a while. Today, I noticed that after my last second bid went in, I got an Ebay email bid confirmation that had my bid (which was the lowest possible) but also my maximum AS bid.

I gather the seller (or anyone else) never sees this maximum bid amount (that we never needed to get to, as I won it for the lower amount)?

Thanks, AS.

Hi Region 2 and thanks but I don't think I was clear.

1. I used AS to bid. My maximum was $50
2. No one else had bid, so the starting bid was 9.99.
3. I won it at 9.99.
4. I get the normal confirmation email from Ebay that my bid was received seconds before the auction closes. On that confirmation email, it states
"Your current bid: US #9.99. Your maximum bid: US $ 50."

I was surprised that Ebay even knew my max bid, but my question is, I'm assuming the seller never sees my maximum bid, right?
You need to understand the basics.
Auction Sniper is not clever - it simply uses your ebay ID and Password to log on (ebay 'thinks' that it's you) and then places your MAXIMUM bid. Ebay will apply that bid as if it was you, using the proxy bidding system where neceesary. AS then checks ebay's response to that bid be it "too low", "proxy outbid" etc etc by screen-scraping and reports back to you.

To say that you aren't using ebay's proxy bidding is confirming that you do not understand how ebay works. So please, get onto eBay HELP and read up on proxy bidding...
