E-bay and PayPal accounts not linked?

I put in a bid on Auction Sniper that would have won the auction, but my bid didn't appear. I got a report from Auction Sniper that my bid was rejected by the seller because my "e-bay account is not linked to a PayPal account." Of course, my e-bay account most certainly is, and has been for years. And I've used Auction Sniper many times successfully for things as large as a motorhome.

So, I went through the steps listed in the auction sniper report to link my e-bay and PayPal accounts.

But now I'm worrying. Is this legitmate, or did I just get hacked?
