Hi. I am currently the high bidder on an ebay item and then realized I forgot to Snipe it so entered the Snipe with a higher maximum bid but am concerned that it not know that I am currently the high bidder and outbid me . . .to the max.

For example:
1. I went to ebay and bid a max of $10 on an item with a current high bid of 5 (and I am the high bidder).
2. I went to AS and added the item and put a high bid of $12

At the end of the auction will it know not to take the bid above $10 (assuming there are no other bidders)? Or is it going to see that there is a bid and not know it is me (same ID) or what?

Thanks
Adam

Yes, except, in your first post you said your bid was $12. If no one else bids, AS will place your snipe at $12, and you'll win the auction at $5, and AS will charge you (either you'll use up a free snipe or be billed) for placing a snipe, even though your proxy bid won the auction. Also, in the bid history, your proxy bid and your snipe will be listed.
quote:
There is an exception (somewhat rare): If your proxy bid is winning by less than a full ebay increment, and no one else bids, your snipe will bump up the closing price

Thank you Rick, I didn't know that - probably not many people do either!

It happened a number of years ago when I first used AS. Both AS & I placed a bid (I wasn't as confident about AS then)

A mystery solved.
