Does AS bid against sniper's opening bid?

I don't remember the answer to this question, but if I place an opening bid and no one else bids on the item, will my AS bid against me? I seem to recall that it will just place the same amount of my opening bid...

AS bids once at the value of your snipe - no 'thinking' takes place. So it'll be the same as you bidding that amount...
