Didn't Snipe

I'm sure this has come up before, I just can't find the post.

I have been sniping for a little while, never had a problem. Today I was hoping to win Item # 2832805409. My snipe amount was greater than the winning bid.

I got an email from auctionsniper"
Auction Sniper Snipe Status Report
eBay Item: GIORGIO ARMANI WHITE SUMMER BAG - NR(Item # 2832805409)

What does that mean?

If status is ready, why didn't it place my snipe? Also, in my snipes-snipes I've lost the status for this one says did not win. Usually it says Bid Too Low or Proxy Outbid. What's the scoop?

Hello!
This has happened to me before. The problem was that e-Bay's equipment went down for a while. It does that every so often, and a lot of times only certain areas are affected. That's what it sounds like to me, but there are bigger experts on this board. You can try filing a case and have AS look into it.

FYI: Auction ended 18:45:00. Auctions ending exactly on the hour and half hour need longer lead times. Does this also apply to quarter hour auctions?

It seems to. My guess is that some sellers, in trying to get away from the stacked-up traffic jams of exact hour and half-hour, have gone to exact quarter hours. Of course, the same snafu has resulted.

My bid was $75. I has AS snipe w/ 5 sec's left. I notice that there was a lot of activity going on during the last 10 secs. Maybe that's why? It sucks though. I wouldn't have won, but that's not the point. I almost bid $92, which would have made me the winner. And it wouldn't have worked.

Suggestions?

I just now got an email saying that AS couldn't snipe because the bid was too low. Maybe at the time my bid was placed, it in fact was the case. No biggie.

I just checked it out and the last (and winning) bid was placed with 1 minute and 52 seconds left in the auction. At that rate, I wonder if your $92 bid would have been placed, with only 5 seconds to go. I seriously doubt it. Suggestions? Sure -- anytime an auction is ending at :00:00, :15:00, :30:00, or :45:00 give AS at least 15 seconds to place your bid; more on Sunday nights, eBay's busiest time.
