My snipe that was over $30 over the final bid was never placed. (Item # 2322833428) 5 sec lead Yes, it is a weekend, but not near the top of the hour.

Seems like equipment failure. Is that why the error (status) messages do not make any sense?

Auction Ended May-17-03 14:26:03 PDT

Does this happen a lot? I see from previous thread it's three failures out of ten snipes.

How is this 99.9%?

Why do the error messages not make any sense?

Why don't you email people when they sign up that AS is only good for back up?

I have started a support case.

Thanks.

You're right! Details of the three lost snipes haven't been posted yet.

I still am quite dismayed that I "lost" the auction. I have sniped manually for almost 3 years and I feel that AS should have warned me in the welcome email to use them only as back up, if you really wanted the item. If I had set the led time for one minute, would my snipe have been placed? Was this an equipment failure situation or an eBAy hiccup? How can you tell?

The auction sniper status report that I received by email said that my snipe could not be placed because my status "Ready"

Of course, eBay had nothing to say about it, since it was never placed.

Is this a normal set of messages when your snipe is not placed due to who knows what?

Thanks.
Sniper Guy,

Hang in there. I've got to go to bed, and there are other forum members (you members know who you are) that are better at this then I am.

I didn't want to leave you without some kind of response, even if it's lame.

You've obviously spent time researching topics in this forum, so you're no slacker.

Rick
