Hello All,

I'm brand new here and so far I like what I see.

However, being of the dummy class, I need some help, some answer and even a little bit of information. Don't ask for much do I? Big Grin

I've spent the last 4+ hours reading all of the threads about using PayPal to pay for your services. But unfortunately I still can't figure it out. I'll be the first to admit that I am not the brightest star in the galaxy.

Do I pre-pay for the services? Do I pay as I go? If I pre-pay, how much do I send? (I don't have a credit card.)If I don't pre-pay, when do I send the money? If I wanted to pay monthly, how much would I send? Is there a set limit? How many snipes do I get when I pay?

Referrals? Where can I find the link to add to my auctions? I don't sell on eBay, so I don't have that to worry about yet.

I'm sorry. I'm new to sniping - won my first one this afternoon - and I really like it and want to stick with it, but I need to know how to do it right.

Thanks again for your help.

"... little bit of information. Don't ask for much do I?"

I'm not going to be any help to you.

I've never seen so many questions in one post. That probably sounds critical, and perhaps it is. I wanted to tell you I don't have the patience to answer all this. Steve or Chatter do. They are this forum's Mother Teresa's. I'll be the "bad cop" so that you can appreciate their rolls as the "good cops".

They really are wonderful people. I hope you will appreciate anytime they, or anyone else spends on your endless questions.

As bad as this may sound, I can't understand what you have been reading for 4 hours.

Good luck. I hope you'll be as happy with AS as I have been.
I am certainly no Mother Theresa, but here goes...

Regarding PayPal, read PayPal payments

Essentially, you prepay with PayPal (which is not processed instantly, but may take a day or two) in whatever amount you like, and then each win is debited from that balance. This is how I pay, though I am in the minority here. I like paying in advance, and find that $20 lasts me several months, since my auction items are usually small prices. The down side of this is that you need to check your balance regularly, or else you could run out without notice.

Only members who have their credit cards on file with AS "pay as they go." They are typically billed twice a month, I believe.

The amount of the AS fee for each auction win depends on the amount of your winning bid. You do not pay for a set number of snipes; you pay a preset amount and your snipes (usually pocket change) are debited accordingly. So it's not the number of snipes, but the amount of each that you are paying for.

I am not sure what you are asking about referrals. You get three free snipes (any amount) for referring a new member, but links to AS (or any other services, for that matter) are not permnitted in eBay auction listinngs, and can result in eBay pulling the auction. But you state that you don't sell, so I am not sure what you mean when you say "add to my auctions."

In fact, I would go to your account settings and be sure to turn off instamail, which is a feature that sends a a form letter in your name to each seller whose auction you win. This is essentially an ad for AS, but sent under your name. Most of us here on the forum do not prefer this option and we turn it off.

Hope that covers it all. Red Face
Nobody calls me "Mother" anything because I definitely wouldn't pass the physical. Wink I think Chatter has responded quite well to your concerns but I too was puzzled by your reference to "referrals." I use my credit card for AS charges (1% of winning bid up to max of $5 = peanuts) and really don't know a whole lot about using PayPal for that purpose.

There's an art to searching the Forum archives for a subject, and Rick is the past master of that among other things. Evidently, you just caught him at a bad time. Please don't hesitate to ask if you have other questions.
Rick, sorry I was trying to find the information about PayPal. I searched (and read) every entry that had something to do with PayPal, hoping to find my own answers. There was one thread that almost answered the questions, but instead I got even more confused.

Chatter163 and Steve, thank-you very much for your help. Now I understand how the PayPal thing works and I know what to do.

I apologize for the confusion about the referrals. I am unable to sell on eBay because I don't have a credit card, however, I do sell on a smaller site - http://www.kodi2.com - and that is where I would like to put my link. I will also start selling on http://www.bidville.com again soon and I can put a link there. I just can't find the link to put in.

Thanks again for all of your help. Yes Rick, you're right Chatter163 and Steve are very sweet people and judging by some of your posts, you seem to be a sweet guy as well.

Big Grin LOL

To be honest - I actually have to put on a pair of shoes to be 5ft tall! Sometimes when I get frustrated because I can't reach something I shout out "Six inches Lord, that's all I need!" That way, if I were 5'6" I'd be tall enough to reach what I need!

Now get your mind out of the gutter - put it in the sewer with mine! lol

Here is a link you can use to refer friends:
http://www.auctionsniper.com/refer.aspx

That really is the main way you'd want to refer people. If you are a seller you can use the "Distribute AuctionSniper Link" link on that page to generate your link. Then you could use it in all your emails between yourself and the buyer after the auction. eBay is a bunch of grouchy buttheads and wont let our links be in eBay listings. Guess they must know how great we are and dont want anyone else to find out about us. Smile
Thanks Sara B. Now would you believe that it took me 20 minutes to find the extra link you were talking about? Told you I wasn't the brightest crayon in the box! lol Eek

I'm definitely adding the link to my auctions, my "About Me" page, and my website!

I really like this place. I just won my second snipe. Now I know how I lost so many auctions.

Thanks again. Smile
