comments - what is this for~???

Hi snippetysnipe -
I use the Comments section in MY SNIPES to remind me what day and time of the week my auction is up, whether or not there is a reserve on the item, whether or not they take PayPal etc - just stuff I want to remember about the item.
The notes show up under the item photo and description.
You can use it for just abbout anything you want to note about the item-even that you want AS (auction sniper) to remember to snipe it, except the notes are for you - not AS.

A lot of the things I bid on are books and magazines which contain something I'm interested in, and I use the comment field to note what that item contains. Sometimes I'll use it to say "SUNDAY SNIPE!" as a reminder to "test the water" at eBay a few minutes before the auction closes just in case I want to adjust my snipe lead time.

I record the shipping price, it is especially helpfull when bidding on multiple items in a bid group. That way I can see when I should bid more on one item compared to another that has higher shipping.

I put the shipping price and if they take paypal or not. That way I can look at a group of snipes and remember why I'd bidding a few $ more or less on one item than another. Usually because one has a higher shipping than the other.

Hmmm - suggestion - perhaps AS could have a shipping price field so that we can record it officially

That would be an excellent idea. Afterall, shipping is a very important part of the sale price.

Think about it. A lot of the time the shipping amount isn't given, or it's buried somewhere in the item description. Other shippers offer different rates according to how the buyer wants the item shipped. I guarantee it would take more servers than AS owns to create a function that only worked some of the time due to insufficient information.

I think, Steve, the person just meant a blank field that could be filled in.

Why not put it in the existing "comments" field if that's the case?

Well, of course you can do that, but if you use the existing one for say, clsing time, etc. , it would probaly give a clearer view of it. I, on the otherhand, don't use the existing one.

There's plenty of room in the existing "Comments" field for closing time, shipping costs, and other information. I don't use it all the time, but when I want to remember something without having to revisit the item description, I use "Comments."

I guess it would probably depend on the number of requests for it.
