cancellations problem

I tried to cancel a snipe a minute before it was due to be put, and it was not allowed. How come? I would have thought a minute was an eternity to a machine. Because `of this I now have 2 lots of the product, as they finished at exactly the same time, although having different numbers. When I tried to cancel the dearer one, AS said I couldn't. What is the shortest time AS will allow a cancellation? I tried at 1 min 45 secs.

You need to cancel no later than 3 minutes. From AS FAQ:

You can add, modify, or cancel a snipe as long as there is at least 3 minutes left until the auction ends. When the auction is about to end, you may notice that a lock will replace the Cancel and Modify links. In the event that you have not refreshed the page, and the Cancel and Modify links still exist for a snipe that is ending in less than 3 minutes, any changes made will be disregarded. For reliability and performance, our bidding system prepares snipes three minutes in advance and so you must make your changes before this time

This is why you should use the "Bid Group" folder system. See the help tab for bid group and also various other comments about it in the forum. As long as there is a short span between the gizmos end time. IGOR..the computer will take care of the canceling of the second gizmo by itself...That is why so many of us swear by the "Bid Group" folder feature of AS.

Although the FAQ says 3, it's really 2. But since peoples computers often have the wrong time we say 3.

At the 2 minute mark we begin distributing your snipes to our various bidding servers through california. This ensures a higher chance of your snipe being placed in the event of any eBay or internet failures, etc.
