Yes, you can be logged in to eBay when AS snipes for you. What time does the auction end, and what is your lead time?

Manually sniping in case something goes wrong won't help you if eBay has a glitch. If that happens the snipe won't go in whether it's a manual snipe or one sent through AS. Good luck!

the auction ends at 12:49 PST on sunday. my lead time is set at 15 seconds. should i extend the lead time more or will AS adjust? how often is a missed snip due to AS glitch? thanks.

Your settings should be fine. It's not close to an exact quarter hour, and before the normal evening rush.

Usually, when a snipe is missed, it's because the auction ends on, or within a few seconds of an EXACT quarter hour, on Sunday, between about 18:00 and 22:00, and a lead time of 10 seconds or less.

Because of the way eBay lets sellers 'schedule' auctions. (and many do schedule for a modest extra fee)

Exact quarter hours are the only choices for a scheduled auction. This means many, many, many auctions all end at the exact same second, and eBay lines get VERY busy and response times get slow.

thanks! so should i adjust the lead time down since my auction is not in a trouble time slot? maybe 10? 12 seconds?

There are some pretty fast manual snipers in eBay land. If it were ME I would change to a shorter time, especially if there is another auction for the same item later. If it's rare, that's your call. AS defaults to 5 sec, but says to extend that durring busy times.
