Hi, I am new to AS. I did a search but did not find my question so I am asking here. My first ever AS was for an ebay item that had a Buy It Now price listed, with 0 bids to date. I probably should have manually placed a bid to get rid of the buy it now, but I didn't. Anyway, someone came in and paid the buy it now price, so the item is no longer available. Makes sense, but that was 4 days ago and my Snipe is still listed as "ready". I know AS checks items to see if my pending snipe is below the current bid price, and will notify me if that is the case, so shouldn't they notify me that my item is no longer available so I can search ebay for another?
Maybe I have something setup wrong, or maybe this is something for a future enhancement? Thanks.

samsks... WELCOME to the forum.

You are right, it would be nice if they emailed you and let you know. This has never happened to me, so can't help you there. It may have to do with the auction not being open any longer. A bug/suggestion for the future? Doen't seem to be an email option for that. Frown

I do, however, have some advice. Check out bid groups. Using a bid group allows you to enter many auctions into a bidgroup folder and tell AS you only want to win a certain number of them. AS will bid on each auction for you and automatically stop when your quantity is filled, whether that be 1, 2, 5, or whatever.

Just be SURE to check the 'Bid Group' box to make a Bid Group Folder, and not just a regular Folder. There IS a differance.

Sorry, but not sure exactly what you are asking so...

Lets say a gizmo has a starting price of 10.00 and a BIN of 30.00. You want it and are willing to pay 30.00, but hope to get it for less.

If you enter your snipe for 30.00, someone could still use the BIN at eBay and the item is no longer avaliable for you to win. So instead...

Go to eBay and bid the 10.00 That makes the BIN option on eBay go away. No one else can Buy it Now. You can still snipe at 30.00 but could win the gizmo for much less.

If that didn't answer your question, please let me know.

Oh... by the way. Using the above idea could backfire on you. Since the BIN option goes away when the starting price or reserve price is met, that means the item could sell for $40.00 !!!

Many times the starting price and BIN price are very close together, and it's a good idea to just use the BIN on eBay and not take the chance of losing to an out-of-control bidder.
