It's easier to get answers here than it is to query Ebay Roll Eyes

Some Ebay listed items display the PayPal "Buyer Protection Offered" logo. In reading Ebay's explanation, they use the nebulous phrase "confirm item's eligibility", and of course there is the word "offered". At first glance, it would appear that if the PayPal check mark is shown on the seller's listing and the buyer uses PayPal to pay for a successful auction......then the buyer is automatically covered to the extent of $500. How do you experts read this? Confused

Purchase Protection

Most purchases on eBay are protected by one of the following programs:

PayPal Buyer Protection - When you pay for a qualified listing with PayPal, this program provides coverage up to $500 at no additional cost. To see if an item is covered, look for the following picture in the "seller information" section on the listing and confirm the item's eligibility.

Standard Purchase Protection - Most other items are covered up to $200 (minus a $25 processing fee) under our buyer protection program.

If you need to file a claim, remember to stay within the program's timeframes and to follow all the recommended steps.

When am I covered under these programs?

Both programs offer protection when you pay for an item that you don't receive, or receive an item that is substantially different than what was described in the listing. In addition, the following eligibility rules apply:
You must purchase the item on eBay.
Only tangible items (physical goods that are shipped) are covered. Services and intangible items such as emailed recipes, e-books, etc. are not covered.
You may only file one claim for each purchase. PayPal Buyer Protection is limited to 2 claim awards per user, per calendar year. eBay's buyer protection program allows 3 claims every 6 months.
PayPal Buyer Protection only covers qualified items paid for with PayPal.
The programs do not cover items purchased using cash or wire transfer services such as Western Union or MoneyGram.
