this is probabbly a reall common question what do yall think is the best seconds to set it on
like it comes up as a set 5 seconds lag or whatever its called..and I changed it to a 4, dont know why I just did..lol

but i was reading posts and saw that some ppl have it set at 7 seconds

is there any tips for this?? if its set too low will it not get to bid at all or something??

thank you so much..Jessica

It's possible that if your snipe is too low it might not go in. But generally I think AS compensates for that. when Ebay is running slow, they add a few seconds on to the snipe time to make sure you get in on time.

The most important thing to remember, which you'll read here over and over, is that it's not the LAST bid that wins, it's the HIGHEST.

Bid your "true max" and you'll be ok. Either you'll win, or you won't mind losing for that price!

i didnt even know about auction sniping and i have been around buying and sometimes selling on ebay for a long time..lol had no clue but then tonight i had a auction up and someone totally outbid at the last min this other lady i mean it was truelly at the last second and I was just like wow..lol cuz it doubled the price too so i was like yeah for me..LOL
but then i get this i guess automatic email from the buyer talking about auctionsnipe and I am like hmm i gotta see what this is..lol but I didnt expect to find what a nice group of ppl there is sitting around this board, been reading some posts..LOL

yall seem like a nice group..

so yah this was cool..will be back for many visits

I am thinking i am gonna save my 3 free swipes for something I really want in summer which I cant start bidding on till like may..travel thing..

if i dont use them till may will they still be there?
our A S forum!

Snipe timing is probably a matter of preference. I set mine a 8 sec. except on Sunday between 5:30 and 8:30 PST, on the hour, half, or quarter. I then add about 10 to 15 sec. to it. The most important thing is bid your max you want to pay. The highest bid wins!! Another tip; end your bid # in an odd number like 51.67 or something. An odd bid can sometimes put you over the top!

sorry..lol

me and hubs is having a arugement..LOL
I cant explain this..can someone else

ok you know how and maybe I am wrong but lets say i wanna bid on a cd
and i set my maxium snipe at 20.00
and the auction's highest bid before mine is 10.00
now lets say i went..
and the next bid up would of been like whatever ebay sets those at 12.50 or what not
I wont have to pay my max bid right? like if i win and its 10 bucks I will basically pay 10 bucks give or take them extra bucks ebay always bids up

right?

lol thank you jessica
Heard someone say eBay frowns on linking to other sites, but you could put it on your 'About Me' page at eBay, and just ask people to have a look in your listing. To generate a link,

Click Help tab at the top of this page.
Click on 'I want to refer others!'
At the very bottom make sure your eBay ID is correct
Click 'Generate Link'
The box has the html code using you as a referal to paste into your page.

Free snipes for you when someone signs up. (but we don't want EVERYONE here, do we?) Smile

WELCOME to the forum.
