What’s up with auctionsniper?

I snipped 301.90 on item 2178850548 and I lost to a bid of 301.01!

I snipped 301.90 on item 2178857080 and I lost to a bid of 297.00!

In both auction the bid history did not show a bid placed by me. In on case the last bid was placed almost 4 hours before close, and in the other it was almost 3 hours!

My lead time was 5 seconds. From what I’ve read this should be adequate for off-peak bidding. These auctions closed at around 2pm pst.

This service loses a lot of its appeal if it doesn’t work.

You didn't reach the next ebay bid increment.

Because this comes up often, the following was posted by Steve (forum member) on 4/30/03 at 7:30 AM:
eBay Bid Increments

Current price
$0.01 - $0.99 = $0.05
1.00 - 4.99 = 0.25
5.00 - 24.99 = 0.50
25.00 - 99.99 = 1.00
100.00 - 249.99 = 2.50
250.00 - 499.99 = 5.00
500.00 - 999.99 = 10.00
1000.00 - 2499.99 = 25.00
2500.00 - 4999.99 = 50.00
5000.00 and up = 100.00

This is a function of ebay, and has nothing to do with AS.

Um, leafhead...did you stop to think that the bid increment for bids between $250.00 up to $499.99 is $5.00? Now, I wasn't a math major in college but $301.90 is only $0.89 higher than $301.01, and $301.90 is only $4.90 higher than $297.00. AS probably did submit your bids, but eBay rejected them as insufficient. Roll Eyes

By the way, you have no way of knowing that the bids by the winners were their maximum bids. It's quite possible that in each instance a $5.00 increment might not have been enough to win. Sniping isn't much fun when your bid's not high enough, either. Razz
