bidding recap question

Sorry, No. There is no way to know what a bidders max was. eBay will only display the amount of that max it took to win.

It can sometimes be determined that the winning bid was an actual maximum, but only if the high bid is within one bid increment of the next to highest bid. (did that make sense?)

I believe that puppy and rick both answered you correctly.

Yes Rick that was the recap I saw.

In the recap, there's a column titled "Max bid". If you look at the last bid, there's an "*". Puppy provides the meaning of that "*" in the text prior to the recap.

If you care to share an auction number, I'll do a recap of it.

bid placed is line #1.  That should make it easier to follow the auction.
Two additional columns have been added.  They are the current bid and high
bidder, as displayed on eBay after each bid is placed.              v2.0.4
* = Winning bid.
