Hello again. I thought I understood how Ebay bidding works with the increments and all of that stuff. However, this particuar auction confuses me #3570889675. Two bidders, starting bid was $7.99 and it's already up to $36 with 4 days left, and it's already gone beyond my max bid. Frown

Is this due to their max proxy bids and Ebay just upping the second bid to beat the first bidder's max? I guess I thought you'd see a bunch of bids, through the 50 cent increments but that's not the case? Confused

Thanks again, everyone! Smile

Yes, the first had a proxy set and the second drew it out by their's, so in essence, it is a lot of 50cent bids done at one time. It is pushed up an increment at a time, but in this case, in mega seconds. Sorry it is going to high for you, but you know what something is worth to you and those are personal decisions we have to make. Smile

Pilotgrl,

I know how you feel! Currently I've got about a dozen snipes set up, and when I sign on now, nearly ALL of them flash the warning, "Snipe bid is LESS than current minimum bid"! I'm a cheapskate! Roll Eyes So what's your excuse? Wink

Reminds me of a time I fairly regularly attended one of those live auto auctions -- like the dealers attend, except this one was open to the public, too. Never bought a car there, but I sorta did come close one time! At one auction there was this beautiful sports car. However it wasn't ready for sale at the auction I first saw it -- it was scheduled for the next auction in 3 weeks. So I got all the info on it, researched prices, contemplated it, talked to friends, and brought a wad of cash to the next auction prepared to BID! I knew the bid amount I wanted to start bidding, I knew the amount at which I wanted to stop bidding, I had bid strategy planned -- I was pumped! Of course, the sports car was one of the LAST in the auction, so I had to hang out all day waiting until it finally came up.

Wouldn't you know it! Before I could open my mouth or wave my hand at the auctioneer to bid, somebody placed an OPENING bid that WAS THE BID AMOUNT AT WHICH I PLANNED TO STOP BIDDING!!! Eek Oh well, I really didn't want it that bad! Probably couldn't afford the insurance anyway! Wink

The thing to remember in auctions, whether live or online, is to bid YOUR price. Don't allow yourself to get caught up in a bidding frenzy/fever and end up paying an amount that you'll regret later. Frown

Snipe on! Smile
