Hi,
If I place just one starting bid (not proxy), via eBay, just to start it off, but then set up auction sniper to bid (with my max), will it think that my original bid is a different person? I'm not sure if I'm explaining right. Example: I place a bid on eBay 99c and then set up auction sniper to go off late in the game, will it outbid my bid? Thanks!

No. You can't bid against yourself. Using Auction Sniper is the same as if you placed a second bid towards the end of the auction, which would only increase your ebay bid, but not the amount you'd end up paying for it. If your snipe was $2.00, you'd win at 99c, assuming no one else bids.
As to why I'd wish to do that... Well, I don't for every auction but there are exceptions where the item is pretty rare without much interest with a ridiculously low opening price. It's a bit of a psychological thing. I wish to lock the seller into following through with the auction and then cover myself should anyone outbid me with last second snipes. May or may not work but I do it, as Rick said, because I want to. Wink
Sometimes I put in a low bid equal to the starting price just to hold the item. I've seen sellers cancel or change the listing (which they can do with impunity on eBay before anyone bids).

Might be worth remembering though that although your snipe might obtain the item for the original bid amount, AS will count this as a successful bid and charge you.
