snowluvrs,
Bid histories:Auction 1Auction 2
Why your snipe wasn’t placed:ebay bid incrementsAt the time AS tried to place your snipe, the price for each auction was $102.50. To have a snipe (or any bid) placed, your bid must be “at least” one increment above the current auction price. At $102.50, the increment is $2.50. So, to even be in the running, your snipe/bid had to be at least $105.00.
NOW, had your bid been $105.00+, your bid would have appeared in the bid history, BUT, that doesn’t mean you would have won the bid. There’s no way of knowing what the FULL bid was for the high bidders in each of these auctions. That’s how ebay’s proxy bidding and increment system works. Ebay only shows the amount of the proxy bid necessary to remain high bidder, without going beyond the proxy bid amount.
How you might have won by a penny:Let’s say that the price for both auctions was $102.50 at the time your snipe was place. Let’s also say each of the high bidders’ FULL proxy bid was $105.00. AND let’s say that your snipe had been $105.01, AND there were no other snipers, you would have won the auction for $105.01, which would have been for one penny over the top bid.
At the time your bid is placed, you need only reach ONE increment above the current auction price.
Hope this helps.
