bidding for an item which has no bids

I'm new to this!
I just want to have something clarified, If you wish to bid for an item using auction sniper which may not receive any bids but that is uncertain until the last second, if you place the maximum you are prepared to pay and no one bids is that the price you will pay.
eg if it starts at $10 and you place a maximum of $30 in sniper is that what will be paid ($30) or would it be $10

$10 - the same as if you placed the bid yourself. AS will bid $30, but you'll get it for $10.
