Someone please explain this to me because I'm lost.

I set my max snipe on an auction at $12.57. The auction just ended, and I just got an email saying "Status Summary: Bid Too Low". So I go check the auction to see what the item sold for, and I see that the winning bid was $12.52!! And it was placed an hour before the auction ended, so I didn't get outsniped.

This was first snipe attempt - and most likely my last!

Two things you need to know about:

The short of it is that eBay requires that you bid at least $x.xx more than the current high bid. And in your case 5 cents isn't enough. It ranges from like .25 cents to as much as $100 more based on the current bid. In your case you would have had to bid at least 50 cents more than the current high bid of $12.52 in order to have a shot at winning. And you still dont know that $12.52 was their true maximum. Then could have bid $50 for all anyone knows, because they only had to beat that other person by that 50 cents themselves.

Have faith sniping works. We wouldn't have 70,000 users if it didn't.

Thank you
