My maximum bid was higher than the winning bid, why didn't I win the item?

This is actually a common question. What happened was that your maximum bid was not above the current minimum bid required, and yet it was above the current price.
For example, an item costs $20.00, and the next bid must be $21.00 or above. Your maximum bid on Auction Sniper may be $20.50, but while this is above the current price, it is below the requird minimum.
