There is an item being auctioned that I want that is at $100.00. Assume it has no other bidders than Mr.1Bid and me. I snipe for $125 and 30 seconds. Mr.1Bid also snipes, but for $120 and 10 seconds.
Question:Who gets the item? At 30 seconds AS sends my bid and I am high by the next bid increment (suppose $105). At 10 seconds the other snipe is sent and it shows a bid $20 higher than mine.
I suspect you've amswered this before, but I didn't find it.

"Question: Who gets the item?"?

You do. Any portion of your $125 bid that is not needed to top the next highest bid by one bid increment is held in reserve ("proxy") for you by eBay, to be applied in case of other bids up to the maximum you bid. The bid increment at $100 goes to $2.50 so your $125 bid is higher than the $120 bid by not just one, but two increments. Assuming that's the way the auction ends, your final and winning bid would be shown as $122.50. There would be no indication of how high your maximum bid actually was. Smile

Always remember: it's not who makes the last bid, it's who bids the highest amount subject to the increment rules. Your $120 bidding rival would have had to bid at least $127.50 to beat you.

Steve- You got caught in my attempt to get on the forum. Sorry. To get on, the forum has to verify my email. But I could not find a way to communicate with forum admin or tech. So every chance I had, I asked for a verification request to be re-sent to me. It finally got through (after 3 days) and I got on the forum and was able to post my question. But my request for verification keeps re-appearing. Maybe itwill go away next time.
