Once again my snipe was not placed. It does not show up in the auction at all. I would not have won with my max bid. But it was not placed at all according to the item bid history.

AS bids as if it was you so, if the item price was higher than your snipe when AS goes to snipe, eBay won't accept AS's bid.

You have to decide what is your max bid. An amount that you will not feel bad if someone is willing to pay more for the gizmo. That is what you should bid. The high bid wins.
